Providing internship opportunities… changes the whole equation” – Edquardo J. Padron

College is something you complete. Life is something you experience.

This is a form of work experience that allows professionals to develop their knowledge in a certain field. An internship can provide you with real-world skills in your chosen industry. Learning information about internships can help you gain work experience and make contacts for future work. In this article, we describe what an internship is, look at different types of internships, how to find one and how an internship can help you with career development.

Our internship program has been established in 2009 in our New Jersey and New York offices from different prestigious universities. When the pandemic started, we evolve to remote and have been doing internships not just from New Jersey and New York but all over the states and in the Philippines through the technology platform Zoom, Discord, QuickBooks Times, and more applications because of our internship program, our interns gain real-life experience in the field they studied and have been mentored in the early part of their career. Our internship program is a well-rounded way to be nurtured not just in their career but enhances their values, virtues, leadership skills, and more intangibles that are impactful to their character. We built a strong foundation and understood where they are coming from, their goals, and dreams in life.

Since 2009 we have had around 400 interns plus most of them have found a job and business they want to pursue after experiencing different business lines of services that our firm renders. We also exposed them to different industries within those short periods of time which has boosted their resume and given them wide options in their career. They also have a chance to discover what they really want to be an expert in the future whether in Taxation, Accounting, Financial Services, Management Advisory, Marketing, Human Resources, Consulting and more.

What is an internship?

An internship is a fixed period of hands-on work experience commonly given to students or young people. During an internship, you can work for a company and participate in projects, meetings, and job shadowing opportunities. Internships are all about learning and gaining skills in your chosen industry. These are heavily guided opportunities, with plenty of time for reflection and asking questions. It’s a good way to transition from studying to working, as you can gain valuable contacts within your chosen industry. These contacts may help you learn about job opportunities after you leave the internship.

Job Experience

Job listings often describe requirements such as education and minimum job experience. If you are entering the workforce for the first time after college or a vocational training program, you likely do not yet have the required experience. An internship is a perfect way to fill that gap. You can gain valuable exposure to how a business in your chosen field runs, take part in meetings and perform assigned tasks in a real-world setting.

Help guide your career goal

During your education, you may study a variety of subjects to determine your interests. For some, a college degree helps you determine exactly what kind of career you want to have. For others, studying offers a diverse set of experiences that presents multiple career options. An internship can give you job experience by introducing you to daily rigors and tasks without a firm commitment to that precise career track. It can help you decide if certain jobs fit your personality and your talents and allow you to meet people who can give you career advice and guidance.
